Starting anew

Zak on Facebook said that I should blog about squirrels, which led to the long process of trying to figure out old passwords and email addresses in order to have access to Inside the Squirrel's Drey once again. It's been a long time, many things have changed. In some ways I have wanted to leave this blog behind me, long in the past, because although it contains good memories, it can sometimes hurt to look back too much --at hopes and dreams of another time, of things which never came to pass. I feel like a different person. Heraclitus said, "No man crosses the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man," or something similar. And yet I'm here, again. Not the same but nonetheless finding patterns. Usually I write when I'm looking for answers that lie within me somewhere. Just have to dig them out.

So what's different? Bennie the squirrel has died. That happened on October 4, 2008. Such are the dangers of loving squirrels, or any pet or anything at all..they tend to break your heart. We are temporary constructs and when I look at this blog, it reminds me of that fact. I think that maybe it's good I'm here...so I will stay motivated, so I can mark the days, talk about goals, disappointments. Hopefully I'll stick to it this time but I'm not making any promises.

I still enjoy weaving and textile arts. I've added mosaics into the plethora of things that I am interested in learning to do successfully. Still haven't gotten into blacksmithing, but that will come. I had a child, was laid off from a job. Went back to school for respiratory care, and so I'm learning new things every day and don't have a lot of time to devote to hobbies. I will graduate in May and I'm excited about the possibilities. :)
