Walking around, looking around

I went for a ramble this morning, across the road and towards the spring-fed pond. Bennie came along and sniffed the crisp air in between bouts of face-washing and squiggling inside my jacket. We heard other squirrels gnawing on nuts and then cracking them open, and a woodpecker across the valley was obtaining his breakfast, too. And the Sandhills are back again! I heard two of them this morning, and apparently they saw me first. Its seems very early to me, for them to have returned already. Nevertheless, they are back in the small hills that have yet to turn to green. Back to eat in the farmers' fields and to dance their mating dances and to call their mating calls. Another generation is in the works, and it is a great gift for those of us who care enough to pay attention.

February's issue of National Geographic magazine had an article regarding the chemistry of love and lust. It says that people who are newly in love have much the same chemical imbalances as those who have OCD.
